Dobendan Strepsils® Dolo is used for temporary supportive treatment for painful inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa (sore throat)
The antiseptic active ingredient contained in Dolo-Dobendan fights the pathogens of the inflammation, the active ingredient benzocaine quickly relieves the pain. Dolo-Dobendan is also very well tolerated.
Dolo-Dobendan® is particularly recommended for severe to very severe sore throats and severe swallowing difficulties. It can be used for quick temporary relief of pain and discomfort associated with inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat (stomatitis, pharyngitis) or gums (gingivitis). Dolo-Dobendan® is doubly effective: against bacteria and against pain. When you suck Dolo-Dobendan® lozenges, the antiseptic active ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) acts directly in the mouth and throat area against the bacteria, and the active ingredient benzocaine quickly relieves the pain - after just 46 seconds.

Sore throat – origin & symptoms
While adults are affected by cold infections about two to three times a year, children get it up to 13 times a year. Speaking, sneezing, coughing - all of this can lead to cold viruses being transmitted by droplet infection. Symptoms such as coughing, exhaustion and severe sore throat are not uncommon. Especially in the cold season, the dry winter and heating air promote viral infections. If the immune system is then weakened, pathogens have a free rein. But even in summer we are not safe from colds: Because the ozone produced by intensive solar radiation and the air dried out by air conditioning also ensure that the respiratory tract is irritated. Inflammation in the throat and pharynx can also be caused by overstraining the vocal cords.
Has an antiseptic effect, takes away the pain
Dolo-Dobendan® lozenges are particularly recommended for use with severe to very severe sore throats and severe swallowing difficulties. With its special combination of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and benzocaine, they have a double effect against sore throats and swallowing difficulties: while the antiseptic CPC eliminates the bacteria in the mouth and throat when sucking, the benzocaine ensures rapid relief of pain through its anesthetic effect - already after 46 seconds.
Fit and active despite a sore throat
A sore throat and difficulty swallowing make you feel exhausted and less productive in everyday life. Eating, especially acidic and hot foods, can also be difficult. Dolo-Dobendan® lozenges relieve the pain quickly and reliably so that the symptoms don't slow you down completely.
For children and young people
Not all throat therapeutics can be used safely in children and adolescents. This does not apply to Dolo-Dobendan®: The active ingredients cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and benzocaine are considered to be very well tolerated - therefore Strepsils are safe for children over the age of six. Alternatively, Dobensana® Junior throat lozenges are available for this age group: These do not contain any sugar or artificial colors.
Application recommendation
Adults and adolescents from the age of 12 take 1 Dolo-Dobendan® lozenge every 2 hours as needed to treat a sore throat and let it slowly melt in your mouth. The daily dose should not exceed 8 Dolo-Dobendan® lozenges. Children between 6 and 12 years old take 1 lozenge every 4 hours as needed. The maximum dose in this age group is 4 lozenges per day. If you have symptoms that last longer than 2 days or are accompanied by a high fever, please contact your doctor.
FAQs:
When exactly do Dolo-Dobendan® lozenges help?
Dolo-Dobendan® is particularly suitable for severe sore throats and swallowing difficulties. These can be temporarily alleviated quickly by taking them. Areas of application are, for example, inflammation of the mouth and throat mucosa (stomatitis, pharyngitis) or the gums (gingivitis).
What can I do to naturally relieve my sore throat?
In the case of an acute sore throat, sufficient rest and little physical exertion are important so that the immune system can regenerate. Drink enough water or tea (two liters/day) to flush out the pathogens. Sage tea is particularly suitable as it has a soothing and anti-inflammatory effect. Hot milk with honey can also have a beneficial effect. Also keep your neck warm, for example with a neck wrap or a scarf.
Do I need to go to the doctor for a sore throat?
A sore throat can have many different causes and does not have to be a symptom of a serious illness. You should consult a doctor if your symptoms are accompanied by a high fever, do not improve within 2-3 days despite taking medication, or even get worse.
For medicines: Read the leaflet on the risks and side effects and ask your doctor or pharmacist.
