Did you know it's important to get adequate folate levels before conception?¹
In fact, low maternal folate levels are one of the risk factors for developing neural tube defects in your unborn baby.¹
Femibion ® 0 BabyPlanning contains 800 μg Folic Acid Plus1 (a combination of folic acid and Metafolin ® ), which effectively increases the folate level.1
Folic acid must be converted to folate in the body to become biologically active. Metafolin ® is a form of folate that the body can use directly.
One small tablet per day with Folic Acid Plus1 and other selected nutrients tailored to your phase in a discreet blister.
Femibion is the No. 1* recommendation of gynecologists and offers a coordinated product for every phase from the desire to have children to breastfeeding.
Even before pregnancy, a sufficient folate level is important for women who want to have children. Usually, the neural tube of the unborn baby forms 4 weeks after conception. This anatomical structure forms the baby's/infant's brain and spinal cord. However, pregnancy at this early stage often goes unnoticed.
A low folate level at this early stage of pregnancy is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the growing baby.¹ Therefore, you should ensure that you are consuming 400 µg of folic acid daily at least a month before conception.

¹Femibion ® products contain Folic Acid Plus (a combination of folic acid and Metafolin®) and selected nutrients. Metafolin ® is a form of folate that can be absorbed directly by the body and helps increase folate levels, which are important for your baby's healthy development.¹ Metafolin ® is a registered trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, and is used under license used.
The additional folic acid intake increases maternal folate levels. Low maternal folate levels are a risk factor for developing
ns to be taken one month before and up to three months after conception. There is scientific evidence to suggest that low maternal folate levels are a significant risk factor for developing neural tube defects. However, there are other risk factors as well. Therefore, changing a single factor may or may not have a beneficial effect. Folate also remains important later in pregnancy as it contributes to the growth of maternal tissue (eg the placenta). The placenta provides the baby with all the nutrients. Adequate folic acid intake should therefore be ensured throughout pregnancy.
Femibion ® 2 and Femibion ® 3 also contain DHA (omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid). Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the fetus and breastfed infant. In addition to the recommended daily dose of 250 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) for adults, an additional 200 mg of DHA is recommended.
