"As you enter the second trimester of your pregnancy, you want to continue to support your baby's healthy start in life.¹ In the 13th week, another important growth phase for the baby begins. Femibion ® 2 Pregnancy offers you: Omega 3-DHA, to support your baby's healthy brain development¹; Folic Acid Plus1 (a combination of folic acid and Metafolin ® ); Other select nutrients specifically tailored to your stage of pregnancy."
Femibion is the No. 1* recommendation of gynecologists and offers a coordinated product for every phase from the desire to have children to breastfeeding.
DHA, short for docosahexaenoic acid, is an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid. It contributes to the healthy brain and eye development of the fetus¹. Femibion ® 2 Pregnancy contains 200 mg DHA. Uptake of DHA by the mother - and later by breast milk - remains important into lactation. In addition to the recommended daily intake of 250 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) for adults, it is recommended to take an additional 200 mg of DHA.

¹Femibion ® products contain Folic Acid Plus (a combination of folic acid and Metafolin ® ) and selected nutrients. Metafolin® is a form of folate that can be absorbed directly by the body and helps increase folate levels, which are important for your baby's healthy development.¹
Metafolin ® is a registered trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, and is used under license.
The additional folic acid intake increases maternal folate levels. Low maternal folate levels are a risk factor for developing ns one month before and up to
three months after conception. There is scientific evidence to suggest that low maternal folate levels are a significant risk factor for developing neural tube defects. However, there are other risk factors as well. Therefore, changing a single factor may or may not have a beneficial effect. Folate also remains important later in pregnancy as it contributes to the growth of maternal tissue (eg the placenta). The placenta provides the baby with all the nutrients. Adequate folic acid intake should therefore be ensured throughout pregnancy.
Femibion ® 2 and Femibion ® 3 also contain DHA (omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid). Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the fetus and breastfed infant. In addition to the recommended daily dose of 250 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) for adults, an additional 200 mg of DHA is recommended.
