Active ingredient: miconazole, combinations Indication:
- The preparation is a drug with a broad spectrum of action for the treatment of fungal diseases of the skin.
- The ointment is used to treat inflammation of the skin and skin folds affected by yeast (Candida spp.).
- The ointment must not be used
- if you are allergic to miconazole nitrate, related antifungal medicines, zinc oxide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- Always use this medicine exactly as described here or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- The ointment is applied to the entire affected area with every change of aids (e.g. diapers, incontinence pads) and after every bath.
- Duration of application
- Treatment should be continued for at least a week after all symptoms have disappeared. If there is no improvement after 7 days, you should consult your doctor.
- If you have used more than you should
- When used on the skin, there is no risk of overdosing. If you accidentally ingest (swallow) the ointment, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur. See a doctor immediately.
- If you forgot the application
- Make up for a forgotten application as soon as possible and then continue the treatment in the usual way.
- If you cancel the application
- Do not stop treatment too early. Otherwise, the infection can still exist and possibly break out again.
- If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
- Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):
- Hypersensitivity reactions with itching as well as swelling and redness of the skin; also severe cases with shortness of breath and drop in blood pressure
- Hives, contact dermatitis, rash
- Skin irritation, sensation of warmth, burning of the skin
- Locally limited reduction in normal skin color
- Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
- Skin irritation
- If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.
- Warnings and Precautions
- Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the ointment.
- The ointment should not be used on open wounds.
- Avoid eye contact.
- If hypersensitivity reactions or irritation occur, treatment should be discontinued.
- Ability to drive and use machines
- There are no special precautions required.
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
- Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent (less than 1%).
- There are no data available as to whether the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should only use the ointment after consulting your doctor.
- Please do not use the ointment on the breast area while breastfeeding. How to avoid direct contact of the infant with this medicine.
- Ointment for use on the skin.
- Before applying the ointment, the skin must be cleaned with lukewarm water and dried carefully. The ointment should be applied carefully with the fingertips without massaging them in.
- Even when using the ointment, the usual measures for inflammation of the skin and skin folds should not be neglected. For example, tight-fitting diapers and incontinence aids that are impermeable to air and moisture are not used and the aids are changed frequently. The diseased skin must not be cleaned with perfumed soaps, shampoos or lotions.
- Use together with other medicines
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.
- The ointment must not be mixed with other ointments or medicinal substances.
- Miconazole, the active ingredient in the ointment, can inhibit the breakdown of certain medicines. Interactions are unlikely after using miconazole on the skin. However, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the ointment if you are also taking the following medicines:
- Anticoagulant medicines, e.g. B. Phenprocoumon or warfarin
- Certain medicines used to treat high blood sugar levels (sulfonylureas)
- Phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy)
