MICLAST® 80 mg/g nail polish containing active ingredients - against fungi and bacteria

Miclast 80 mg/g is a nail polish with the active ingredient ciclopirox. It is used to treat mild to moderate nail fungus infestation (onychomycosis) of the fingernails and toenails. The active ingredient ciclopirox penetrates the nail and kills the fungi.

Here is the Miclast 80 mg/g dosage and administration information:

• The medicine may only be used by adults.
• The recommended dose is one application per day, preferably in the evening.
• Before starting treatment, it is recommended to remove the loose parts of the diseased nails with nail scissors, nail clippers or a nail file.
• During treatment, a thin layer of nail polish should be applied to all affected nails once daily, preferably in the evening.
• The varnish should be applied to the entire nail.
• At least once a week before using the drug, the varnish layer should be removed with a commercially available cosmetic nail polish remover. At the same time, all loose parts of the diseased nail should be removed.
• It is recommended not to apply regular nail polish or any other cosmetic varnish to the treated nails during the treatment.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the infection. The treatment period is usually 3 months for fingernail fungus and up to 6 months for toenail fungus. If you are in doubt about whether treatment should be continued, you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Side effects can occur, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects include allergic contact dermatitis (skin rash such as eczema) and systemic allergic reactions. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

There are no known interactions with other medicines. However, it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medications you are taking.

Miclast 80 mg/g must not be used if you are allergic to ciclopirox or any of the other ingredients of the medicine, or in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
