Disinfect the wound with octenisept® – this is how you proceed
Before disinfecting cuts, abrasions and other injuries to the skin with octenisept®, the affected areas should first be thoroughly cleaned.
After that, apply a wound disinfectant as soon as possible to give pathogens or bacteria no chance of causing an infection.
Please note that octenisept® should not be mixed with other preparations. The simultaneous use of z. B. in BETAISODONA® contained povidone iodine and octenidine can lead to a dark discoloration of the skin at the application site. Simultaneous use of both preparations to prevent infection of wounds is therefore not recommended.
Use of octenisept® in children, infants and premature babies
octenisept® wound disinfection can cause skin damage. It should therefore be used with caution in neonates and especially in preterm infants.
Exposure time of octenisept®
octenisept® is already effective after 30 seconds against bacteria, against the hospital germs MRSA and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and has a limited virucidal effect. The exposure time against Candida albicans (yeast) is two minutes.
Before applying a wound dressing, please allow at least one to two minutes to take effect.
Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack or the outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
