Otriven has been a cold expert for free breathing for 60 years and contains the proven active ingredient xylometazoline, which is used to decongest the nasal mucosa. The nose drops are suitable for colds and to facilitate the drainage of secretions in the case of sinusitis.

Most people are plagued by a cold once or several times a year. A cold usually lasts 1 week, but the symptom of a blocked nose only about 5 days. Otriven contains the proven active ingredient xylometazoline and can be used for up to 7 days.

Application

Otriven 0.025% nasal drops are intended for use in infants and small children under the age of 2 years.

1 drop in each nostril, 2 to 3 times a day (every 8 to 10 hours) is generally sufficient. A 3-time application per day and nostril should not be exceeded. Otriven 0.025% nasal drops should not be used for more than 7 consecutive days. The recommended dosage must not be exceeded.

Preparation of the dropper

Before the first use, the dropper must be prepared. To do this, point the bottle opening downwards and pump by pressing on the finger rest until a drop emerges. After another 7 pump strokes, the dripper is ready for use.

For further applications, the dropper is immediately ready for use. If the medicine has not been used for 1 week, the dropper must be activated with 4 puffs.

1. Clean the child's nose thoroughly before use.
2. The application should be carried out with the child lying down with the head slightly tilted to the side. The dropper should be held directly in front of the lower nostril and instilled 1 drop. It should be avoided to insert the dropper into the nostril. Then let the drops work in for a short time.
3. To treat the other nostril, turn the child's head slightly to the other side and repeat the process on the now lower nostril.
4. After use, clean the dropper with a clean cloth and put the protective cap back on the bottle.

For hygienic reasons and to avoid infections, it is pointed out that each dosing dropper may only be used for one patient.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack or the outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
