Pantoprazole AL 20 mg - for heartburn

Pantoprazole AL 20 mg is a medication for the short-term treatment of reflux symptoms in adults, especially heartburn. The active ingredient in Pantoprazole AL 20 mg is pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor. Pantoprazole inhibits the production of stomach acid by reacting specifically with the proton pumps in the stomach cells.

Reflux occurs when the chyme, along with gastric juice, flows back up from the stomach into the esophagus, irritating it. This may be accompanied by burning pain behind the breastbone, accompanied by acid belching, coughing, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. If lifestyle changes are not enough to relieve reflux symptoms, drug treatment such as Pantoprazole AL 20 mg may be considered. Medical consultation should be considered if symptom relief does not occur after two weeks of continuous treatment.

The recommended dose of Pantoprazole AL 20 mg is 20 mg (one tablet) per day. In some cases it may be necessary to take the tablets for 2-3 consecutive days to achieve improvement in symptoms. The enteric-coated tablets should not be chewed or crushed, but should be taken whole with liquid before a meal. Once complete relief of symptoms is achieved, treatment should be discontinued.

It is recommended to avoid possible triggers for heartburn, such as certain foods (e.g. coffee, chocolate, fatty or spicy foods, citrus fruits, carbonated drinks) and eating late and heavy meals before bed. There are also some medications that can trigger heartburn by increasing acid production in the stomach. It is important to discuss taking such medications with a doctor.

Pantoprazole 20 mg is intended for adults and is not recommended for adolescents and children under 18 years of age due to insufficient data on safety and effectiveness.
