Posiformin® eye ointment: protection and disinfection for chronic eyelid inflammation

- Disinfects the irritated edge of the eyelid and adjacent conjunctiva
- Forms an effective barrier against invading bacteria
- Has an astringent and anti-secretory effect
- Supports a quick and complication-free easing of symptoms
- Preservative-free and well tolerated
- Reliable protection against irritation of the outer eye

Chronic eyelid inflammation is accompanied by swollen, reddened and itchy eyelid edges. The eyes feel tired and dry, tear or hurt. The edges of the lids and eyelashes are glued together. If the secretion accumulates in the glands on the edge of the eyelid, ideal conditions are created there for the accumulation and multiplication of bacteria. To ensure that the germs do not spread to other areas of the eye, effective eye hygiene requires reliable protection against infection of the mucous membrane.

Posiformin® 2% eye ointment is very well suited for use in inflammation of the eyelid margins. The drug acts directly at the site of inflammation. The irritated edge of the lid and the adjacent conjunctiva are disinfected and protected against invading bacteria.

Antiseptic eye ointment with bibrocathol: The active ingredient bibrocathol contained in Posiformin® 2% eye ointment has proven itself in the local treatment of irritation of the external eye. The substance has a disinfectant effect and forms a protective membrane on mucous membranes and wound surfaces against the penetration of bacterial pathogens. Due to the astringent (contracting) effect, secretion production can be inhibited. This creates the conditions for the symptoms to subside quickly and without complications. Local application does not result in any significant systemic absorption, so undesirable side effects only occur in very rare cases. The eye ointment contains no preservatives and is therefore particularly well tolerated. As a supplement to the treatment of the eyelids, the POSIFORLID COMOD® eye drops can be used as care throughout the day, while the Posiformin® 2% eye ointment can be used overnight.

Application:
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, an approx. 0.5 cm long strand of Posiformin® 2% eye ointment is inserted into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye 3 to 5 times a day for adults and children. Distribute the applications evenly over

the day. When using, tilt your head back slightly, pull the lower eyelid slightly away from the eye and apply a small strand of ointment into the conjunctival sac by applying slight pressure to the tube. Then slowly close the eyelid.

When using, please avoid direct contact of the tube with the eye or facial skin. After use, close the tube carefully and store it in a child-safe place.

EYELID INFLAMMATION: Red, irritated eyes and sticky eyelids are often caused by eyelid inflammation, also known in medicine as blepharitis. Inflammation of the eyelids can occur when the sebaceous glands produce too much secretion and the excess secretion clogs the glands. In addition, external stimuli such as chemicals, cosmetics or contact lenses as well as certain illnesses can promote the development of eyelid inflammation.

MEIBOMAN GLAND DYSFUNCTION: Inflamed lid margins are a symptom of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MDD). The meibomian glands secrete an oily film that protects the tear film. If the glands' production is disrupted, the tear film is no longer adequately protected from evaporation and the eyes and eyelids become irritated. With a suitable therapy and daily eyelid hygiene, the symptoms can be alleviated or even freedom from symptoms can be achieved.

FRESH CORNEAL WOUNDS: Improper handling of contact lenses, a slipping make-up brush, sand and dust when walking - in many everyday situations mechanical injuries to the cornea can easily occur. In the case of superficial, uninfected wounds, the antiseptic Posiformin® 2% eye ointment forms an effective protective film on the damaged cornea, thus promoting its regeneration and can help alleviate the subjective symptoms.

TIP: The successful treatment of eyelid inflammation is based on three pillars: therapy of the irritation, heat treatment and daily eyelid hygiene. POSIFORLID® offers a complete and coordinated concept for healthy eyelids. The combination of Posiformin® 2% eye ointment and POSIFORLID COMOD® eye drops is suitable for around-the-clock therapy. The twice-daily heat treatment with the POSIFORLID® eye mask serves to soften crusts on the edge of the eyelids. The POSIFORLID® eye spray is recommended for gentle cleaning and care of irritated eyelids.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

How long should I use Posiformin® 2% eye ointment?
Posiformin® 2% eye ointment should be used until the symptoms subside. If the symptoms persist for a longer period of time or if there is no improvement with treatment with the eye ointment, you should consult your ophthalmologist. Also ask your doctor for advice if you have chronic eye irritation. Uncontrolled long-term use of the drug should be avoided.

What should I pay attention to if I use Posiformin® 2% eye ointment with another preparation?
Please tell your doctor if you are using, have recently used or plan to use any other products, including non-prescription medicines. If you also use eye drops, you should always leave at least 15 minutes between each application. The eye ointment is always administered last.

Will using Posiformin® 2% eye ointment restrict my vision?
After using Posiformin® 2%, temporarily blurred vision may occur due to the ointment film on the cornea. This impairs the ability to react. Immediately after use, you should therefore not drive a car or actively participate in road traffic in any other way, do not operate machines and do not work without a secure footing.

What is contained in Posiformin® 2% eye ointment?
Posiformin® 2% eye ointment contains the active ingredient bibrocathol 20mg/g. Other ingredients include white petroleum jelly, thick paraffin and wool wax. The medicine does not contain any preservatives.

How long does Posiformin® 2% eye ointment last after opening?
You can use Posiformin® 2% eye ointment for 4 weeks after opening. Please note the opening date on the folding box.

Do I have to go to the doctor if the edges of my eyelids are irritated or sticky?
In the case of acute inflammatory conditions, we recommend going to an ophthalmologist to clarify the causes of the symptoms and tailor the treatment accordingly. Even if you have chronic eyelid inflammation (blepharitis), you should make regular check-ups with an ophthalmologist.
