What is PROSPAN® Cough Syrup?

PROSPAN® Cough Syrup for Children is used for Treatment of stuck cough . A persistent cough that is not coughed up can lead to inflammation of the airways. It is therefore all the more important that to liquefy stuck mucus and so coughing up support. For this purpose, you can use Prospan cough syrup for children.

In our online pharmacy you can get the cough syrup in two pack sizes. You can choose between packs of 100 ml and 200 ml.

When to use PROSPAN® Cough Syrup

We recommend the following application and dosage:

Strictly follow the dosage, which is also stated on the leaflet. This is how you avoid an overdose.

Use the included measuring cup for ingestion and easier dosing. The cup will help you avoid overdosing. The juice should be taken in the morning (possibly at noon) and in the evening. Shake the bottle well before each use!

The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the clinical picture and it should usually 1 week be. However, if symptoms persist for more than 1 week, medical advice should be sought. If the symptoms persist or if you develop shortness of breath, fever or purulent or bloody sputum, you should see a doctor immediately. Do not use the juice longer without consulting to avoid overdosing.

When not to use PROSPAN® Cough Syrup

PROSPAN® cough syrup for children is generally well tolerated. However, if you are allergic to an active ingredient or other ingredient, do not take it. In this context one also speaks of so-called contraindications.

PROSPAN® cough syrup should only be used in children under the age of one after consulting a doctor. Use in this age group should be done under careful supervision because children under one year old may experience diarrhea and vomiting compared to older children. Please also note the information under side effects.

This medicine should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding as there are insufficient studies. This medicine contains sorbitol. Up to 1.9 g of sorbitol are supplied with each application.

If your doctor has prescribed the drug despite a contraindication, he or she may consider the benefit to be greater than the associated side effects.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack or the outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

active ingredient per 5 ml syrup:
35 mg ivy leaf dry extract (5-7.5:1); Extraction agent: ethanol 30% (m/m)

Excipients: Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid Anhydrous, Xanthan Gum, Flavouring, Sorbitol Solution 70% (Crystallizing), Purified Water

2.5 ml liquid contain 0.963 g sugar substitute sorbitol (Ph.Eur.) = 0.08 BE.
