Mouth and throat problems are very common. The cause is often incorrect oral hygiene and thus an excess of harmful bacteria. Chlorhexidine: Effective in use

The active ingredient chlorhexidine in Chlorhexamed® FORTE is a positively charged molecule and therefore has an attraction to the negatively charged parts of the oral mucosa and teeth. It accumulates there and is slowly released again – this is referred to as a depot effect. The bacteria in plaque also have negative charges on their outside and bind to chlorhexidine. It thus reduces the adhesion of bacteria to the teeth and kills them by penetrating and altering the bacterial cell membrane. The bacterium dies. Chlorhexidine adheres to the teeth and oral mucosa for a long time and remains effective there. Chlorhexidine effectively protects the teeth against excessive plaque formation, kills bacteria and thus helps against gum disease. Chlorhexidine is not absorbed into the body through the mucous membranes and is almost completely excreted after accidental ingestion.

Use of Chlorhexamed® FORTE alcohol-free 0.2%

Rinse the oral cavity thoroughly with 10 ml of Chlorhexamed® FORTE alcohol-free 0.2% for one minute and then spit out the medicine. Do not rinse with water and avoid swallowing. Rinse twice a day with Chlorhexamed® to treat gum disease, for example. Do not use more than the stated maximum amount. Use Chlorhexamed® exactly as described in the leaflet or follow your dentist's recommendations. Children under the age of 12 should only use Chlorhexamed® FORTE alcohol-free 0.2% after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
