Proven pain reliever

Pain is one of the most common symptoms and can have many different causes. Around 67% of women in Germany are affected by headaches each year, and at least 52% of men.* In connection with sore throat and body aches as well as fever, headaches are typical symptoms of a cold. The most common types of pain include back pain and menstrual pain. The active ingredient paracetamol has proven itself for the treatment of pain and fever.

Reliable against pain and fever

The active ingredient paracetamol has an analgesic and fever-reducing effect. It is one of the non-opioid painkillers (analgesics) and among the most important active ingredients against pain and fever. Paracetamol is generally considered to be well tolerated and can also be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after weighing the benefit-risk ratio - provided paracetamol is not used over a longer period of time, in higher doses or in combination with other drugs. With an appropriately adjusted reduced dosage, the painkiller and antipyretic can also be used in children from the age of 4 years.

If you have a cold: take it easy on your body

Anyone suffering from a cold with headaches and body aches should take it easy. The body needs strength to fight the pathogens. There is also a risk of infecting others when the cold is acute. If you have a fever, calf wraps help to lower your body temperature. To do this, wrap a cold, wet towel around each calf (from the back of the knee to the ankle). Paracetamol can also help relieve symptoms. Because of its antipyretic effect, it is often used for colds and flu-like infections.

Help with menstrual pain

Periods are very uncomfortable for many women. The symptoms can also start a few days before the start of the period and appear in the form of cramping pains in the lower abdomen that radiate to the back or legs. Headaches, migraines or general malaise can also occur. In some women, the cramps also cause nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Pain that occurs during menstruation can be treated with PARACETAMOL AL 500, for example.

What to do with a headache?

Tension-type headache is the most common type of headache. Typically, bilateral dull, pressing or pulling headaches occur. A home remedy for headaches is a light massage of the forehead, temples and neck with essential oils such as peppermint oil. Painkillers are suitable for the treatment of individual tension-type headache attacks (analgesics) such as paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) or ibuprofen. However, these painkillers should only be taken over a certain period of time, because they can trigger headaches themselves if used for a long time.

What should the maximum dosage of PARACETAMOL AL 500 be?
PARACETAMOL AL 500 is dosed according to the package leaflet depending on body weight and age. The dosage is usually between 10-15 mg paracetamol per kg body weight and up to 60 mg/kg body weight as a total daily dose. The total daily dose of PARACETAMOL AL 500 must not exceed 4000 mg paracetamol for adults and adolescents from the age of 12 or from a body weight of 43 kg. For children from 4 to 8 years or up to 25 kg body weight and children from 8 to 11 years or up to 32 kg body weight, the total daily dose of paracetamol must not exceed 1000 mg. For children from 11 to 12 years or up to a body weight of 43 kg, the total daily dose is 2000 mg paracetamol.

Can I use PARACETAMOL AL 500 during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
It is advisable to ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice when using PARACETAMOL AL 500 during pregnancy and breastfeeding. PARACETAMOL AL 500 should not be taken during pregnancy for a long period of time, in high doses or in combination with other medicines. Paracetamol passes into breast milk. Since adverse consequences for the infant have not yet become known, it is usually not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding.

Application

The tablets are swallowed whole with plenty of liquid. The dosage of PARACETAMOL AL 500 depends on body weight and age, usually with 10 - 15 mg paracetamol per kg body weight as a single dose, up to a maximum of 60 mg/kg body weight as a total daily dose. The use of this medicine in children under 4 years of age or under 17 kg body weight is not recommended as the dosage strength is not suitable for this patient group. However, suitable dose strengths and dosage forms are available for this patient group.

Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack or the outer packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
