The over-the-counter sab simplex ® helps with flatulence and dish soap poisoning
The oral suspension is used to treat functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
When too many gases are trapped in sluggish foam in the stomach or intestines, gas and colic develop. Active ingredients such as Simethicon ensure that the foam collapses and intestinal gases can escape naturally
The remedy is used for:
- Acute gas-related gastrointestinal complaints, such as flatulence and a feeling of fullness
- Examinations in the abdomen
- increased gas formation after operations
- detergent poisoning
Which components are in sab simplex ® contain?
The gastrointestinal suspension contains simethicone as an active ingredient. This surfactant acts as a defoamer. It is able to dissolve excessive gas build-up in the gastrointestinal tract.
Other ingredients are:

When should the remedy not be used?
The preparation should not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
How is sab simplex ® taken for gas-related gastrointestinal complaints?
Unless your doctor has prescribed a different dosage for you, this is the remedy for gas-related gastrointestinal complaints to be taken as follows:
- It is administered in the form of drops.
- Shake the bottle before use.
- Hold it straight down and lightly tap the bottom of the bottle with your finger.
- If the dripping speed is too high for you, you can minimize it by tilting the bottle.
The single dose is:
- infants and young children 15 drops
- school children 20 to 30 drops
- adult 30 to 45 drops
It can be taken over a longer period of time.
Information for infants and young children with gastrointestinal complaints
When you breastfeed your child, sab simplex ® administered with a small spoon before breastfeeding. When you give your child the bottle, mix in the medicine. The suspension mixes easily with other liquids.
Infants receive sab simplex ® at or after meals. If required, it can also be administered before going to bed.
Advice for school children and adults
Start with the lowest dosage and increase the dose as needed. You can give a single dose every 4 to 6 hours, preferably with or after a meal. A dose before bedtime is also possible.
How is sab simplex ® taken during examinations or detergent poisoning?
In order to prepare various examinations, the administration of sab simplex ® necessary. The best way to administer it is to remove the dropper from the bottle, as it is given in teaspoons. A teaspoon is about 5 milliliters.
- In preparation for one X-ray examination will already 3 to 6 teaspoons the night before of the remedy taken.
- In preparation for one sonography become 3 teaspoons the night before and 3 teaspoons 3 hours before the examination
- In preparation for one Gastrointestinal reflex half to a whole teaspoon is taken.
- At a dish soap poisoning the minimum dose recommended is one teaspoon. The dosage can be increased depending on the severity of the poisoning.
